Position Summary
 
Childhelp, a premiere Residential Treatment Facility and group home for children 6-14 years of age with severe emotional and behavioral challenges in the hills above Beaumont, California has immediate openings for a Billing and Collections Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily charge posting, billing, and collecting for all residential treatment, education, mental health and ancillary services for the Village of Childhelp, including applying payments to accounts, maintaining contract billing requirement compliances, and generating required reports.
 
The Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
  • Receiving all new admission and discharge documents and accurately inputs new residents’ information into the billing system
  • Maintaining census information and distributes daily census report
  • Generating/Submitting/Printing associated billing programs for residential treatment, foster care, and mental health:
    • UB-04/CMS-1500 and 837i/p health claims;
    • monthly invoices;
    • tracking acknowledgments/receipts/statuses (997/999/277);
    • reconciling/recording A/R (i.e., ERAs/835s, EOB) in EMR and/or Accounting system
  • Submitting invoices on a monthly basis for education, and ancillary services and the USDA School Lunch Program
  • Maintaining spending account information in billing system
  • Verifying eligibility of services and pre-flight claim review/requirements to submits all claims in a timely manner as needed
  • Applying all cash receipts and printing Payment & Adjustments reports
  • Reviewing all Remittance Advice/EOBs for denied claim adjustments and identifying solutions to overcome denials in order to resubmit claims for payment
  • Working with on-site school staff to review IEPs for billable ancillary services (such as speech, occupational, and individual therapy), maintains documentation that shows required services are being performed
  • Running required Month End Reports (e.g.,Daily Service Activity Logs, Program Utilization report, ERA/EOB, etc.) - Accounts Receivable Manager to complete month end close duties
  • Organizing and filing remits and correspondence
  • Preparing cost reports for different counties following county guidelines and submitting in a timely manner.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned
  • Minimum Requirements:
     
  • Must be at least 21 years of age; have a current, valid and unrestricted CA drivers license; and be cleared through a fingerprint-based criminal background screening process involving review of the FBI, DOJ and Child Abuse.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred
  • 5+ years experience billing and follow-up/collections/reconciliation
  • Experience maintaining the administration of billing systems (i.e. contracts, licensure, credentialing, allowable services/units, billing codes, etc.)
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency of CPT and HCPCS coding, and correlation understanding of ICD-10/DMS-V
  • Strong overall computer skills
  • Knowledge of HIPAA X12 EDI transaction standards and accounting principles
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of various government payers and 3rd party payers as required
  • Detail and deadline oriented
  • Ability to interpret contracts and establish billing compliance matrices
  • Ability to work in a confidential manner, ensuring information is shared with internal and external individuals in an appropriate manner

The Childhelp Merv Griffin Village is located in Beaumont, California.  Beaumont is 90 miles east of Los Angeles and 30 miles west of Palm Springs off Highway 10.  The Village has been providing a healing home environment for severely abused, neglected, and at-risk children since 1978.  Producing a true community atmosphere, the Village houses as many as 84 children ranging in age from 6 to 14 years old.  The residents live in cottages and are grouped by age and treatment needs.  The children arrive at the Village experiencing severe behavioral and emotional problems as a result of their previous abusive or neglectful situations.
