Position Summary:

This unpaid Internship will provide exposure to many aspects of writing and editing in a non-profit context that will include internal and external communications, social media writing and general content creation. Learning objectives are achieved through training, observation, and “learning-by-doing” under close supervision with constructive feedback. The responsibilities below will be accomplished through a mentor-trainee relationship.

 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creation and management of copy to ensure timely, relevant and engaging content

  • Work with team members to develop and understand communications strategies

  • Draft as-needed communications, content for blogs, website and social media

  • Assist in both technical and creative elements required to present information to a range of audiences, increase awareness and raise funds, prevent abuse and neglect

  • Monitor social channels, news outlets and internal communications for trending news and ideas

  • Prepare content and assist delivery based on audience and medium (page layout, presentation creation, infographics)

  • Nurture the culture and legacy of Childhelp by documenting and transmitting information about organizational expectations, stakeholder histories and programmatic successes

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Extremely detail-oriented with strong attention to follow-through

  • Impeccable writing skills, grammar & storytelling style (Please have a portfolio. Coursework is fine.)

  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form

  • Flexible in work functions and duties

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Exceptional time-management skills

  • Strong teamwork skills

  • PC proficiency and strong skills in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PPT, Excel) essential
