The position is responsible for providing effective academic instruction to students requiring services outside of the public school environment.

Job Description

Length of Work Year:  210 Days 180 Regular + 30 Extended

Prepares or participates in the devlopment of Education Treatment Plans or Individual Education Plans and facilitates the development and implementation of therapeutic teaching strataegies that correspond with the Plan.

Prepares written weekly lessions plans and reviews them with the Principal.

Manages classroom comprised of Special Education, Mild/Moderate, and Moderate to Severe students.

Develop classsroom behavioral program, as a supplement to the PDS, assuring system is positively orientated.

Implement behavioral program, as necessitated. Follows/maintains a student manaement plan as approved by the multidisciplinary team.

Appropriately reinforces students and assures consistency of classroom management.

Writes reports, and tracks information on student's progress. Keeps attendance records and student grades.


Current California Special Education Credential, Mild to Moderate or Moderate to Severe.  Must have clean driving record.

About Childhelp Merv Griffin Village

The Childhelp Merv Griffin Village is located in Beaumont, California.  Beaumont is 90-miles east of Los Angeles and 30-miles west of Palm Springs off Highway 10.  the Village has been providing a healing home environment for severely abused, negelected, and at-risk children since 1978.  Producting a true community atmosphere, the Village hoses as many as 84 children ranging in age froom 6 to 14 years old.  The residents live in cottages and are grouped by age and treatment needs.  The children arrive at the Village experiencing severe behavioral and emotional problems as a result of their previous abusive or neglectful situations.
